Destiny Kohlman Pregnancy and Birth Story
Destiny is a 24 year old wife and mom.  In 2016, she started a lifestyle blog to document her first year of marriage the arrival of her daughter.  She also blogs about photography and fashion.  She graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Psychology.  You can find her doing yoga in the morning and drinking a glass of red wine by the late afternoon.  She has two huskies and loves fashion, fresh coffee, early mornings, sunshine states, and blooming flowers, and a good workout routine.  Read on as Destiny tells us about her first pregnancy.

Was your pregnancy planned or a surprise?

Surprised but that’s okay!

How did you share the news with your partner, family, and friends?

Dinner and a card with a picture of our first ultrasound and airplane baby socks

Which was your favorite trimester?

2nd

What was your pregnancy MUST HAVE?

Product: coconut oil
Craving: pickled or anything with vinegar

Did you find out the gender?

Yes

Were there any complications throughout your pregnancy?

I delivered at 35 weeks because I developed preclampsia in 3 days!

Did you go into labor naturally or were you induced?

Naturally

How long were you in labor?

3 hours

Did you get an epidural or go all natural?

Epidural

What was the best and worst part about labor and delivery?

The worst part was not getting the epidural until 8 cm dilated and being unprepared. I literally gave birth on my last day of work before maternity leave. Best part was everything. My perfect piece of me that came out of the whole process. That initial skin to skin contact is EVERYTHING!

Were there any complications with your delivery?

Not necessarily, they couldn’t get my IV in.

Give us the stats!!

5 lbs 10oz and 19 in long. Kamille is a little girl. She came at 6 AM.

What was the hardest thing about the first few weeks of motherhood

Honestly, nothing. I can’t remember anything being bad. She latched, cuddled, slept and pooooooped just fine. My recovery was a little iffy.

What is the best advice you received as a new mom?

Everyone does things differently. Find what works for you.

What is your best advice for expectant or new moms?

Cherish every moment because it all goes by too fast. Don’t be scared to come back out and bring them to experience the real world.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your journey to motherhood?

I absolutely love being a mom. I feel like a completely different woman.
