15 Gift Ideas for New and Expecting Moms

Showering new and expecting moms with gifts is nothing new, but usually, those gifts are more for the baby than the mama.  With the holidays just around the corner, I decided to round up a list of my favorite gifts for new and pregnant moms.  These are all gifts I’ve either received, seen given to someone else, or wish I would have received.  They’re thoughtful, meaningful, and won’t break the bank.  Here are 15 gift ideas for new and expecting moms.

Subscriptions and Memberships

Oh Baby Box Subscription

Oh Baby Boxes are a subscription gift box for pregnant moms.  You can order one box or get extra generous with a 3, 6, or 9 month subscription.  Oh Baby Boxes are tailored to the mom-to-be’s due date and are filled with essentials for where they are in their pregnancy.  My last Bump Box contained stretch mark cream, a really cute water bottle, a bath bomb, pregnancy approved pain medicine, and body oil.  It’s a nice surprise when it shows up at your door and is always filled with useful products.  This is a great gift for the pregnant mama who usually won’t splurge on herself.

Groovebook Subscription

Groovebook is a photobook service that lets you upload images from your phone and sends you a monthly photo album of 4×6 images.  The pictures have perforated edges so they’re easy to tear out and frame or give to others.  You can upload up to 100 photos a month for just $3.99.  My sister got me a Groovebook subscription when I was pregnant with Weston and I love it!  It’s a great way to make sure I actually print off photos and they’re so much fun to look back on.  You can try Groovebook and get your first book for free with the code MULLINS4299.

Qeepsake Gift Membership

Qeepsake is another app that is a new mom’s dream.  Qeepsake is the easiest way for parents to build a baby book for their little ones.  It sends you daily questions and prompts and all you have to do is respond.  Your response is added to your child’s private journal and can be turned into a baby book when you’re ready.  You can also upload photos, milestones, and other memories.  You can give the new or expecting mom in your life a one year membership for only $35.88 (the membership doesn’t start until they activate the account)!

Amazon Prime Subscription

God bless Amazon.  To be honest, I never really understood the allure of getting things delivered to my door… until I had a baby.  I love shopping, looking through the aisles, and trying things on, but once you have a new baby to tow around, it kind of takes the joy out of what was once a favorite pastime.  Gifting a new mom an Amazon Prime Subscription is creative, thoughtful, and I can guarantee, will be much appreciated.  Prime members get so many benefits, including but not limited to, free two day shipping, Prime Now (free 2 hour delivery on things like groceries and diapers), Prime Music, Prime Video, Prime Wardrobe, and Prime Pantry.

Keepsakes

Shadow Box

I’ve mentioned this gift idea in another post, but I have to add it here as well.  I absolutely love the idea of making a keepsake shadow box out of newborn mementos.  I’ve made three for friends and family and it’s always been a favorite.  I’ve taken things like ultrasound photos, baby’s first hat, hospital bracelets, baby’s footprints, etc., and arranged them in a shadow box that can be kept forever.  Here is one that my sister made me after Weston was born!

Photo Session

Another creative idea is to gift the new mom in your life a photo session with a local photographer.  They can use it for maternity photos, labor and delivery photos, or newborn photos.  With my first pregnancy, I questioned whether or not I wanted maternity pictures or labor and delivery pictures.  I ended up doing both (with the help of my talented sister) and I’m so glad I have those memories to look back on.

Christmas Ornament

A handmade Christmas ornament is a great gift for any new or expecting mom.  You can order an ornament just for the new baby or one to symbolize a growing family.  We got one from a friend the year Weston was born and it’s one of my favorites to hang on the tree each year.  You can find some great ideas on Amazon Homemade!

Sonogram Keepsake

Sonograms are the first time a new mom gets to see her baby.  A lot of times, those black and white photos get tucked away and forgotten about.  A sonogram keepsake is a great gift for a new or pregnant mom.  I love this “coming soon” picture frame for pregnant moms, and this triple sonogram frame for moms who have already met their bundle of joy.

Shutterfly Coffee Mug

One of my all-time favorite gifts I’ve received as a new mom is my Shutterfly coffee mug.  My husband designed it and ordered it for Mother’s Day when Weston was just a few months old.  I love it because I’m a mom and coffee is my life, but also because it shows that he put a little bit of thought and effort into my gift.  I’ve designed a few gifts on Shutterfly and trust me when I say anyone can do it!  They make it extremely simple and the finished product has always looked great!

Pamper Her

Spa Day

I don’t know what new mom wouldn’t love a spa day.  Whether its a relaxing massage, pedicure, or facial, a day to take a time out and get pampered is always welcomed.  You can get a gift certificate to a local spa or get a Spa Finder gift card.

Mommy’s First Milestones Wine Labels

I am in love with this gift idea for new moms.  You can order Mommy’s First Milestones wine labels and put them on your favorite bottles of wine.  The new mommy is supposed to drink the wine when she hits a new milestone.  The milestones include, mommy’s first night out, mom and dad’s first date night, first public temper tantrum, and baby on the move!  Perfect for the wine lover in your life who has just gone nine long months without a sip!

Dinner gift card

While the idea of a gift card might not seem like the most thoughtful, you’d be surprised how much food is appreciated when you’re a new mom.  Truth be told, I was most grateful for those people who brought us dinner and take out gift cards when we were brand new parents.  It was just one less thing I had to worry about.  Dinner gift cards can be used for a special date night or when the new mom in your life just doesn’t feel like cooking.

Letter boards are all the rage these days, especially for new and expecting moms.  Letter boards can be used to take milestone photos throughout pregnancy and baby’s first year.

Mommy’s Sippy Cup

Mommy’s sippy cup is another cute idea for the wine loving mom.  Perhaps it’s just me, but I’ve always been a fan of receiving new wine glasses and coffee mugs, especially ones with cute phrases or photos of my baby them.  I love mommy’s sippy cup because it’s stemless, comes with a lid, and of course, holds wine.
